Guiyang University News (Text by He Xuan, Photos by Student Reporter Yan Yiqin) - On June 19th, the 2024 Southern Surveying and Mapping Cup Guizhou Provincial University Student Surveying and Mapping Innovation and Entrepreneurship Smart Competition, hosted by the Guizhou Provincial Department of Education, undertaken by Guizhou University, and co-organized by the Guizhou Provincial Society of Surveying and Mapping Geographic Information and Guangzhou South Surveying and Mapping Technology Co., Ltd., was held at our university. Vice President Chen Xiangsheng of our university and Professor Zhai Yi, an expert from the Teaching Steering Committee of Surveying and Mapping Majors in Colleges and Universities under the Ministry of Education, attended the opening ceremony.
In his speech, Chen Xiangsheng stated that the Guizhou Provincial University Student Surveying and Mapping Innovation and Entrepreneurship Smart Competition aims to cultivate college students' independent thinking, courage to learn, and daring to challenge, as well as to enhance their practical abilities in innovation and entrepreneurship within the field of surveying and mapping. He expressed his hope that universities and colleges within the province would seize this opportunity to strengthen exchanges, promote cooperation, and drive the development of the surveying and mapping discipline, thereby injecting new vitality into the surveying and mapping industry in Guizhou Province.
It is reported that the 2024 Southern Surveying and Mapping Cup Guizhou Provincial University Student Surveying and Mapping Innovation and Entrepreneurship Smart Competition was held from June 17th to 19th. The competition consisted of three events: Virtual Simulation Digital Mapping, Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) Aerial Survey Virtual Simulation, and Airborne LiDAR Virtual Simulation. A total of 467 teams from 28 universities in Guizhou Province participated in the competition, showcasing their skills against each other. Outstanding participants will represent their universities in the national finals.
